A Tornado and a Birthday

So we had this great storm a week or so ago. Pretty small. Little rain. Little hail. LOTS of wind. The boys and I hung out in the covered patio. It ended pretty fast.

Left the covered patio because the sun came out.

Played

Played some more

Splashed in some puddles. About 2 seconds after I took this picture of Wyatt the tornado sirens go off....It was very confusing, it's sunny out, no clouds, the storm had passed about 5 minutes ago....I thought "hmmm. Maybe they are just running a test? Right....after....a....storm...."
No. They wouldn't do that. 2 seconds later we're in the basement and Jim calls from work making sure we're down there because a funnel had been spotted right outside of town. Sawyer was so good. He knew exactly what to do. But I'm afraid I may have scared the crap out of Wyatt running down there...
Ahhhh Kansas weather.

See the big smile on his face? You'll see why when you get to the two last videos...

We had a surprise BBQ for Jims birthday. Had some friends and Elders over. Jim was taking a nap when everyone showed. It was fun to see his face when he came down to see what all the commotion was. Funny thing is I only took this picture the whole time. Ha!
Thanks again Kenneys!

Good thing we have really cool neighbors.

They're playing with the rain gutter shoving things in it and watching them wash out. Silly.

THIS is why Sawyer had a big grin....grandma Jane and grandpa Ed purchased the best Easter present EVER!

Wyatt won't go on it anymore if Sawyer is on it. He's too scary.

Better Late than Never

It has been SO nice out lately that all we do is play outside...and I don't take pictures...I suck.
So these pictures are all from like a month ago that I just haven't gotten around to posting. Ha!
Here is my newest sewing success....no I didn't make the shirt...already had it. But I DID sew on the number 2 and the argyle....cute, huh? It was just a boring blue shirt till I saw this idea. Super easy....even for me.

Ok. So here are a bunch of zoo pictures. Out of order since the first is actually the last...as you can see by their exhausted expressions.

This peacock got SO close to the boys. Wyatt ran to me so scared because it just kept getting closer and closer. It was actually chasing a group of people right before this....
Sawyer on the other hand would probably have given it a hug if I hadn't pulled him away.

I don't think they actually rode much in the wagon...WAY more fun to push and pull.

Outside the zoo is this AWESOME (as Sawyer says) train. Too bad you can't climb it.

And that's it. I'll try to be better at taking more pictures. I miss everyone!

I Try.

I feel like I'm constantly doing something but never get anything done. You know what I mean? I have a to do list a mile long that has something added to it on a daily basis. My basement is FULL of projects that need to get done but I have no time for. I never get just ME time, (except when I work-out but let's be honest, I'd much rather do something else. Like soak in the tub or get a pedicure...you know, be still for more than 5 seconds.) I feel worn-out, old and haggard and stretched to my limit....
But it's oh so worth it.
These boys are worth every single stress wrinkle and fat roll.

No he's not eating playdough...not the icky kind that is. We made Peanut-butter playdough. It's very easy and VERY yummy. I think if you melted some chocolate over this stuff it would taste EXACTLY like a peanut butter cup. Seriously. I'm going to try it. Here is the recipe:
1 C creamy peanut butter
2 C powdered sugar
1/2 C honey.
Just mix it up and play!
And do you see that MASSIVE chunk of it in front of Wyatt? Yeah. He ate the whole thing. Oops. Protein right?

This is unusual...Wyatt is the one who does the chasing and tackling most often. He's not use to getting attacked. It's usually Sawyer running away screaming or laughing (depending on mood) with Wyatt in pursuit.

Unfortunately you can't hear them laughing uncontrollably over the wind. It was 80 degrees but the wind was ICY COLD! How weird is that?

WHY?

Looks like he's in trouble, doesn't it? Looks like he got yelled at and put in time out, huh?
No.
He's watching Baby Einstein.
He loves it.
So why is he scowling?
No idea.
But it's really funny.

So we were at the store today and went past the past-date bakery stand, you know, the little stand that has all those sinfully delicious looking breads and donuts and what not?
Sawyer, in a very high and excited voice:
"Ooooh! Cake! I LOVE cake."
And being the meanest mom ever I didn't give in to the cuteness...cause let's face it. I would have eaten most of it. Will-power finally gets a point.

Going Ons...

Not much new is happening...we are still eagerly awaiting the return of the warmth. We've had a couple days here and there that were promising only to have our hopes dashed the next day with snow or 10 degree weather.
Here is one of the warmer days. During Wyatts nap. I told Sawyer to please not play in the mud...when I look out the door this was the beginning...I should have taken a picture a couple minutes later after he splashed around in it...he had no clue I was watching. Ha!
I don't remember why I was mad at the boys the other day, but my voice was rising higher than it probably should and Sawyer looks at me, and calmly says "Mom, calm down." Can't stay mad after that.

Janes birthday was this past weekend. Happy Birthday Jane!! LOVE YOU TONS! The boys helped to decorate and then blow out the candles. Sawyer now wants to pretend having a birthday ALL THE TIME. Tonight Jim is out of town...again...there was left over cake so Sawyer put some candles on and I lit them. We then sang happy un-birthday and they blew out the candles. It was cute.

This video was taken on Jims phone and I can't figure out how to turn it right-side-up...sorry. I'm computer illiterate.
This is definitely my son. He LOVES my "fast" music as he calls it. When Wyatt jams his whole body goes crazy...when Sawyer is jamming in the car, he's so chill about it. His fingers move and that's about it.
Good for you Sawyer...my little punk rocker.

I know these stories are funnier when your present...but...
Driving home the other day Wyatt was getting fussy. Sawyer turns to him and says "It's ok. We're almost home, buddy." Wyatt immediately calmed down.
Part of a conversation I overheard: "Wyatt, you my best friend." I peek around the corner and they are sitting on the same chair Sawyers arm around Wyatt while they're drinking milk. Whenever I get angry at them I conjure up that image...

MISS YOU JIM-BOB!!!!
